Apathy in Ribeirão Preto: Election Disinterest Reaches 34%
A recent survey conducted by the Ibop Institute reveals a concerning lack of interest in the upcoming municipal elections in Ribeirão Preto. A significant 34% of voters reported having no interest whatsoever in the political process, according to the study commissioned by EPTV.
Key Issues for Ribeirão Preto Voters
While a considerable portion of the electorate remains apathetic, the survey also sheds light on the key concerns of those who are engaged. The data indicates that health is the top priority for 46% of voters, followed by infrastructure issues such as road paving and potholes (22%), and public safety (7%).
Voter Engagement: A Divided Electorate
The Ibop Institute’s findings paint a picture of a divided electorate. Only 20% of respondents expressed a high level of interest in the election, while 24% reported moderate interest and 22% showed little interest. The remaining 34%, as mentioned, indicated no interest, with 1% either not responding or unsure. This research is registered with the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo under number 05-432-2016.
